Revolutionary Prayer

Bible Verses: Psalm 113: 1-9

  • How do we get our heart in tune with God’s? What is God passionate about? Take a look at this Psalm. Now read it again. Question: What does it say about the things you’re wanting answers for at present?
  • Verses 1-5 describe how awesome and how worthy God is of our praise. He is above everything, and in Him all things exist and are held together.
And yet, when we read verses 6-9, we learn of a mighty God who stoops down to look at what’s going on within the world.
  • What does God have as one of His top priorities, when He looks down on events in the world? Well, verse 7 tells us. He stoops to lift up those who are poor and needy, giving them their dignity back, treating them with respect, like Princes. He values every human life the same.
  • Finally, God cares for the woman who can’t have children. Miraculously, God has the power to give her a family. The Psalmist is recording what he sees as the amazing things God does for people.
  • This week, try using this Psalm and others as your way of focussing on God’s priorities and not your own prayer request list. Try it for a week then ask yourself, “Has my prayer life changed through praying the Psalms? Is my heart a bit more in tune with God’s now?”
