beautiful feet!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
[Isaiah 52 v 7]
- Take a look at your feet right now. Are you barefoot? Are you in that same old pair of socks with the holes in your heel, or are you sporting a snazzy pair of new trainers? Personally, I'm modelling a cool pair of Black Dunlop Green Flash today.
- Ok before I loose you completely, there is a point to the above! You see, feet were made to go places. Isaiah said those who take good news had beautiful feet. He wasn't meaning that your corn encrusted, cheesy, unwashed feet were literally beautiful, but he was saying that everyone loves good news. Good news gladdens our hearts, inspires us and makes us want to celebrate. The problem is, some people never get to hear good news, or when they have, can’t bring themselves to believe it.
- We’re almost half way through Hope08, but there’s so much more we as Revolutionaries can do to share the 'Good News' [the Gospel] of Jesus with our mates. Ask yourself this question today: “Who have I shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with recently?” If the answer to this question is ‘no-one’, then the next question has to be “Why are you holding on to Good News that others need to hear?”
- You see, whether or not people believe the Good News that you share with them, is not your business. It’s great if they do believe that Jesus died and rose again, because you can celebrate together. But at the end of the day, if they choose not to, you can’t be held responsible for never giving them the choice to believe. You just need to be willing - with those feet of yours - to go and share good news.
- So, rather like Isaiah’s prophetic statement about the coming of Jesus and the Good News of salvation to the world, we need to play our part as messengers of Hope to our mates. Think a moment about your best friend or someone close to you. Are they a Christian? If not, have you ever told them about Jesus? If it was last year, whilst walking home from school, well... great. BUT, let's face it, that was last year. Tell them again today!
- We are messengers of the best news ever: Jesus Christ. Don’t keep quiet about Jesus this week. Tell your mates about Him! This Good News must be shared to give people a chance to have the same Hope you have in their lives. Then, they can use their feet to pass the news on to others. Simple...just have couorage to share the Good News.
