Twitter a Change

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Matthew 28 v 18-20

Many years ago, every village or town would have a ‘green’ in the middle of it. These village greens were the centre of activity for the whole community. They were the place where people would go to share information with each other about what was happening in their lives. Most village greens would have a notice board that the community could post announcements, events or requests for help on.
Our communities have changed a bit now, but the concept of these village greens still live on, only now they’re on the internet in the form of social networking sites.

It’s amazing to think that 20 years ago we were living in a time when you could lose all contact with a friend just by moving a few miles away. These days it is possible to be in contact with friends that you haven’t seen face to face in years.
Sites like Facebook, Myspace and Twitter allow you to share information about yourself with hundreds of people in seconds, something that again would have been impossible 20 years ago.

Social networking sights are an incredible tool for sharing your faith with your friends without having what is sometimes an awkward face to face discussion on the topic.

So here is the challenge. This week use your Twitter, Myspace or Facebook account to help fulfil the challenge that Jesus left us with, to make disciples of all nations. At least once a day set your status as either a bible verse that has spoken to you or your thoughts on what Jesus is saying to the world right now.
